About my work
The initial inspiration for my paintings comes from the sky; the vastness of it, its cloud formations, rolling and ever changing; the brief bursts of colour at dawn and dusk and the way it makes me feel when I'm outside walking in the elements.
I don't paint in a photo-realistic style because my works are not simply 'paintings of the sky' - there's more to them than that. Expression; spontaneity; impulsive, gestural mark-making & hidden text, pushed from my mind onto the canvas all come together to create dreamy pieces, often viewed as a cross between landscape and skyscape.
